Sunshine and Baseball

The weather is starting to get warm so it’s time to get outside and enjoy it! The baseball team is hosting Western Nebraska Community College this Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m. This will be the second and third meeting this year between us and them with our Indians winning the first meeting 8-4.

Bring your t-shirt and shorts because it looks to be in the mid 80’s with very little wind. Come show your support and soak in the beautiful weather!

Support Softball and Epilepsy Awareness

Come and show your support for our softball team and raise awareness for epilepsy. McCook Community College Phi Theta Kappa Chapter and MCC softball team are sponsoring a “Purple-Out” event on March 19th to help raise awareness about epilepsy.

Abbee Terry, an 11-year old who attends Central Elementary School and has epilepsy, will throw out the first pitch at the 5 p.m. game against North Platte, the first game of a doubleheader.

Bracelets, hair ribbons and t-shirts will be for sale. Also there will be an auction for a signed softball from both teams. T-shirts will be sold for $12 in Von Riesen Library.

So come on out in your purple clothing and show your support for our lady Indians and help raise awareness on epilepsy!

Sunday Night Classes Starting in August

For all of you busy people out there McCook will soon start having classes held on Sunday afternoon and evenings. The classes will begin in August and the idea is to help those with limited time to get classroom time and then be able to finish the rest of the coursework online through the week.

“It’s basically a mix of every type of class we offer,” said Jody Tomanek, area vice-president of academic affairs and North Platte Community College. “It’s accelerated, is a hybrid-meaning it’s offered both in a physical setting and online and is available through distance learning at our extended campus locations.”

So for all of you that don’t have time throughout the week to make it to the classroom this may be just the thing that you are looking for!
